03 October 2007

IELTS was re-submitted to QCA and has been re-accredited and re-approved. It is now titled Cambridge ESOL Level 2 Certificate in English. This is so it is in line with other International ESOL qualifications. As accreditation to offer ESOL International qualifications it allows Awardng Bodies to retain existing brand names it is likely that this will still be referred to as "IELTS". Accreditation is until 2010 (registration) and 2012 (certification). The LSC will continue to fund this for this academic year (2007/08) but will become INELIGIBLE for funding in 2008/09 - this will be announced in the Annual Statement of Priorities for 2008/09 due out in October. More information on the re-approved qualification is available at the following link: http://www.ndaq.org.uk/qualification/50027037.seo.aspx
