Idea Store Learning is the Adult and Community Education department at Tower Hamlets Council and we are currently advertising two teaching posts:
RES00720 – 1 x Skills for Life Lecturer – Literacy Specialist (0.5)
Role Purpose
This is an exciting teaching opportunity to join Tower Hamlets Idea Store Learning Team.
Graded Good by Ofsted, the Preparation for Life and Work area delivers high quality programmes focusing on the development of English (including ESOL), Maths and Employability skills. This Literacy teaching opportunity will allow you to be part of an ambitious and innovative team. There is a strong community development strand to ensure that the work of our team reaches those that may not have had access to learning opportunities, and an emphasis on ensuring that learners progress to further learning, volunteering or employment opportunities. 
All posts will be based at the Shadwell Centre but delivery takes place in a variety of community locations, schools and the borough’s Idea Stores.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide high quality teaching, learning and support for learners in the Post-19 education sector for Tower Hamlets Council. You will be responsible for delivering excellent teaching and learning on a range of ESOL/Literacy programmes across the borough. You will develop courses, schemes of work and assessment strategies to ensure that our courses meet the wide ranging needs of learners in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
Requirements

You must hold a PGCE or an equivalent level qualification. You will need to have a detailed knowledge of ESOL/Literacy and professional working experience including meeting ambitious targets for attendance, retention and success. A knowledge of teaching mixed ability groups as well as knowledge and understanding of current best practice in teaching and learning is essential.

This post requires an enhanced DBS and the ability to work at weekends/evenings as required. You will also need a nationally recognised teaching qualification, Level 5 or above with evidence of undertaking appropriate study to gain such qualifications.
The posts are term time only (41 weeks per year) and fixed term for an initial period of 12 months.

Idea Stores are where learning and libraries combine. Tower Hamlets has one of the most economically and socially diverse communities in the UK. Here at Idea Stores, we provide a unique combination of adult learning, library and information services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Numeracy tutor to join our innovative and dynamic team and to teach across a range of levels in our well-equipped, modern stores with purpose built classrooms.  Graded Good by Ofsted (November 2016), come and join our supportive learning environment where you will be given space to develop and progress in your Numeracy career.

Key Responsibilities
  
You will provide high quality teaching, learning and support for learners in the Post-19 education sector for Tower Hamlets Council.

You will be responsible for delivering excellent teaching and learning on RARPA assessed Numeracy programmes across the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. 

You will assist the Curriculum Managers to develop courses, schemes of work and assessment strategies which meet the wide ranging needs of learners across the borough.

Requirements
 
Successful applicants will hold a PGCE or an equivalent level qualification. 

Knowledge and experience of teaching mixed ability Numeracy groups as well as knowledge and understanding of current best practice in teaching and learning is essential.

This post requires an enhanced DBS and the ability to work one or two evenings a week as required.

This vacancy is fixed term for 12 months in the first instance; 35 hours per week (term time only for 41 weeks)
