Professor of Bilingualism in the School of Education, University of Birmingham. Keynote Address: Language and Superdiversity: Ideologies and Practices On Saturday and Sunday there will be a diverse range of workshops on offer, delivered by experienced leaders - some new and some familiar faces to NATECLA conferences. Themes range from ‘Vocabulary workout’ to ‘Writing Cracking Good Stories’ and from ‘Gems on the Web’ to ‘Language and Maths’. Please look at the comprehensive workshop list and make your choices. After lunch on Saturday there will be a session led by Nick Linford, Managing Director of Lsect, a company specialising in post-16 funding, performance and data within the learning and skills sector. In ESOL funding – where are we now? Nick will consider the latest news on funding and fee eligibility changes for 2011/12, and their impact on ESOL provision. As ever there will be time for networking, attending fringe events and visiting the centrally located resources exhibition. Here there will be good opportunity to talk to publishers, awarding body representatives on hand, ask questions browse and buy. Members are invited to attend the AGM – have your voice heard. Following the final workshop on Sunday our closing plenary will be a panel. The panel will address different aspects of the funding cuts and Action for ESOL campaign. It will be a chance to find out what’s going on, the impact so far, how to join in, to report on what you are doing and get ideas on how to take the campaign further. You can book now. There is free parking on site and a bus service onto the campus. The conference centre is set in a 700-acre campus. The conference itself will be in the compact science block where there are excellent workshop facilities and good sized exhibition and theatre space. On site campus ensuite accommodation is comfortably furnished and equipped with radio alarm, hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities, internet access, toiletries and towels. Residential delegates have complimentary use of the swimming pool and fully equipped gym. On site is the Warwick Arts Centre, bank, shops and bar.
