LSN Post 16 Citizenship Networking events

Back to events list
LSN regional networking events to explore practical ways of delivering effective citizenship education. These events offer the opportunity to share good practice, hear the latest news on policy and emerging priorities and gain practical teaching and learning ideas. As a key feature, these events will be hosted at provider organisations and facilitated by lead practitioners. Some events may also feature inputs from learners giving a first hand account of citizenship learning, highlighting the positive effects of citizenship education. A definition of citizenship Citizenship education is an important part of the development of young people. It enables them to learn about their rights and responsibilities, to understand how society works, and develop knowledge and understanding of social and political issues. It prepares them for dealing with the challenges they face in life. Successful citizenship education increases confidence, self-esteem and motivation for learning. Young people are encouraged to express their views, to have a voice, make a difference to the communities in which they operate and to reflect on what they have learned. What are the benefits of attending? • Hear policy updates and focus together on emerging themes and priorities in the local area and nationally. • Network and share good practice with like minded people developing citizenship provision. • Hear directly from colleagues about citizenship teaching and learning experiences. • Find out about the e-toolkit for creating a citizenship-rich organisation. • Access teaching and learning materials including a new edition of our popular resource 'We all came here from somewhere: diversity, identities and citizenship' (free copies will be available).
