NIACE and LLU+ developed the highly successful ESOL Citizenship materials for ESOL learners in 2006. The materials contain a range of ideas for activities in a citizenship context which have been found to be very popular among teachers and learners.
The Home Office has commissioned NIACE to update the pack, and adapt it so that it better meets the community cohesion/active citizenship agenda. The pack now contains a range of updated materials and new chapters that can be used for:
· Good practice; learning through group discussion, supporting discussion of sensitive issues - faith and beliefs, government's proposed legislation on "earned citizenship"
·Teaching and learning activities to stimulate learners' interests, support their learning needs and promote multi-faith and multi-cultural dialogue.
Who would benefit from attending?
These workshops are designed for all practitioners who deliver ESOL within all sectors, specifically:
· ESOL and citizenship teachers
· ESOL managers
Places are free and will be allocated on first-come first served basis
