Back to events list
"Freedom to teach, freedom to learn", is a conference jointly organised by NIACE, UCU and NRDC. It is being held at the Institute of Education, London on Monday 11th May The conference will offer participants the space to reflect on literacy, language and numeracy pedagogy rather than funding arrangements, national tests and targets. With a range of workshops showcasing, for example, practical techniques in poetry, storytelling and maths, you will have the chance to focus on the essentials of teaching and learning, and to rediscover the creativity and passion that motivates us all in our work with learners. Lyn Tett, Professor of Community Education and Lifelong Learning, University of Edinburgh will deliver the keynote address, and Geoff Petty will be running a plenary session on "Taking control: why expert teachers teach what counts, not what is tested."
