QIA/CEL Summer Conferences -'Making a Success'

QIA/CEL SUMMER CONFERENCES 2008 A conference for those leading quality improvement, curriculum and leadership development in further education, the 2008 QIA and CEL summer conferences 'Making a success' will set the scene for the new sector-led improvement organisation. Held over four dates in June, the 2008 programme will be highly interactive seeking to gain feedback on the new organisation’s proposed structure, programmes and services. These free conferences will focus on sharing expertise, aiming to help colleges and providers meet the challenges ahead. Programme highlights include: - Kate Anderson, QIA’s acting chief executive and group director, Improvement and Strategy leading a round table discussion on developing the National Improvement Strategy. - Addresses by Bill Rammell MP, Minister of State, Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education, Dame Ruth Silver DBE and Sir George Sweeney, chair of the self-regulation implementation group on behalf of Single Voice. - A choice of workshops covering topics such as developing employer responsive provision, models of good practice in teaching and learning and peer review and its contribution to the move to self-regulation. CEL's remit is to foster and support leadership improvement, reform and transformation throughout the sector. It serves the existing and future leaders of all providers within the further education and skills system, including FE colleges, training and work-based learning providers, adult and community providers, offender learning, specialist colleges and voluntary organisations. To date, more than 1,160 different organisations and around 38,000 individual participants have engaged with CEL. About QIA The Quality Improvement Agency for Lifelong Learning (QIA) was set up by the government in April 2006 to accelerate quality improvement, increase participation and raise standards and achievement in the learning and skills sector. QIA's role is to champion excellence and innovation, working across the further education sector to improve performance. As the agency leading the development of a quality improvement strategy for the sector, QIA commissions a range of services provided by other organisations.
