Songs are without doubt a fun and pedagogically sound educational tool. However, they are tragically underused and often poorly exploited. This interactive session aims to reverse that, highlighting the role that songs can play in teaching and the wide variety of uses that exist for them in ESOL (and other) classrooms. Through the use of example material produced by the presenter from a variety of well-known songs, this session will enable participants to develop different ways and means of using this resource exploiting an array of language skills. Participants will leave the session with a multitude of ideas as to how to use this resource meaningfully, exploiting it for both language and thematic learning in fun as well as serious ways. 

Bio 
Chris Walklett is an educator, historian, teacher/teacher trainer and author who has been using music & songs in the classroom for many years dating back to his very first lesson in the mid-1990s. A lover of music both for energy and relaxation, its educational use is a subject dear to his heart. He is the author of the Teaching Tracks series of books that explore the multitudinous uses that this resource offers.
