Gulwali Passarlay

 

Gulwali Passarlay is an Afghan political refugee currently residing in the UK.He left his home and family in Afghanistan at the age of 12 in 2006. His autobiography “The Lightless Sky” published in 2015 documents his escape from Afghanistan travelling 12,000 miles, through 10 different countries before eventually reaching the UK.

Since arriving in the UK Gulwali has attended school in Bolton, graduated with a degree in Politics from the University of Manchester, completed a masters of MPA at Coventry University and co-founded ‘My Bright Kite’ CIC to empower refugee youth and create awareness about the challenges asylum seekers and refugees face in their host society.
