cancellation and refund policy
NATECLA is committed to providing high-quality professional development opportunities while ensuring that our events and courses remain financially sustainable. This policy sets out the terms that apply to cancellations, refunds and transfers for places booked on NATECLA's scheduled events and training courses that are open to all. Please note that a separate policy applies to in-house training commissioned by organisations and employers which is emailed to ESOL teams at the time of booking.
Scope
This policy applies to all NATECLA-paid events, including:
Professional development courses
Webinars
Annual Conference registrations
Regional and branch events
Workshops and training sessions
Any other ticketed or paid events organised by NATECLA
Participant Cancellation
All cancellations must be made in writing by email to NATECLA - info@natecla.org.uk
More than 28 days before the event - Participants may cancel and receive a full refund, less a £20 administration fee.
14 to 28 days before the event - Participants may cancel and receive a 50% refund of the fee paid.
Less than 14 days before the event - no refund will be available.
Substitutions
If a participant can no longer attend, they may transfer their place to another individual at no additional cost, provided NATECLA is notified before the event.
Transfers
At NATECLA's discretion and where practical, a participant may transfer their booking to a future equivalent course or event. Requests for transfers must be made before the event starts and cannot be guaranteed.
Non-attendance
Participants who do not attend an event and who have not notified NATECLA in advance will not be entitled to a refund, transfer, or credit.
Exceptional Circumstances
NATECLA recognises that unforeseen circumstances can arise. In cases such as serious illness, bereavement, or other exceptional situations, NATECLA may, at its sole discretion, offer a refund, transfer, or credit.
Cancellation by NATECLA
NATECLA reserves the right to cancel, postpone, reschedule, or change the format of an event where circumstances require. In such cases:
Participants will be offered a full refund or, where appropriate, a transfer to a future event.
NATECLA will not be liable for any costs incurred by participants beyond the event fee, including travel, accommodation, or loss of earnings.
Membership Fees
NATECLA membership fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy affects any statutory rights that participants may have under applicable consumer protection legislation.
