NATECLA's response to DLUHC

27 July 2022

On 4 July, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities announced the continuation of its Hong Kong British National (Overseas) (BN(O)) Welcome programme which included continued demand-led funding provided to local authorities for English language and destitution support.

NATECLA's response is that whilst NATECLA is pleased to see the continuation of the Hong Kong BNO scheme by DLUHC, and an increase to the English language funding cap, we believe that all Hong Kong BNO individuals should be immediately eligible for AEB 19+ funding and be exempt from the 3 year residency requirement as with the Ukraine Family Scheme and Ukraine Sponsorship scheme.
