Do you like variety? Have you organised and managed successful events? Do you have experience of managing a website? Do you like working with teaching professionals? Do you want to make a difference to the lives of those who are learning English in the UK? Would you like to work for a national charity with wide reach into different ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) provision and a national policy role? If you answered yes to these questions, you might be interested in being our new National Coordinator!

The National Association for Teaching English and Community Languages to Adults (NATECLA) is recruiting for a new National Coordinator. The role will be 60% of full time over 3-4 days a week, and can be done remotely, although we are particularly looking for someone who can attend our office in Birmingham at least monthly.

Who we are

With over 500 individual and institutional members nationally, we are the membership body for ESOL and community language practitioners in the UK. For over 40 years we have supported our members with professional development opportunities, individually and sector-wide. We connect ESOL professionals with their local peers and we have shaped the sector through our policy engagement at the highest levels. Most recently we have been influential in encouraging the government to create a national strategy for English language, part of the new integration strategy.

The role

As our National Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our membership charity, organising national events such as our popular and successful annual National Conference 2019, working with regional branches, and marketing and communications with partners and external bodies. You will supervise the Assistant National Coordinator, who is based in our Birmingham office, and work closely with her.
