Information about the PGCE Literacy or ESOL (DTLLS)

Year 2 of the PGCE Literacy or ESOL is aimed at those already teaching literacy or ESOL in the lifelong learning sector and are part qualified (e.g. City & Guilds 7407 stage 2, CELTA, TESOL Cert, DELTA). Interviews for year 2 will be starting in December as a new pre-course module means that year 2 trainees will start in spring 2011. If you wish to apply, you will need to do so through UKPASS. Go to www.ukpass.ac.uk and go to ‘Course Search’, then ‘Search for courses’. Use the keywords ‘PGCE Literacy or ESOL Institute of Education’, and our course should be the first one that comes up. The IoE are also welcoming applications for the following courses – PGCE Literacy or ESOL Year 1 Year 1 of this course is aimed at those new or relatively new to teaching, including learning assistants Diploma in Education: Mathematics (Numeracy) Year 1 of this course is aimed at those new or relatively new to teaching, including learning assistants, and direct entry year 2 may be available to those with previous teaching qualifications Postgraduate Certificates in Adult ESOL or Literacy Teaching This course is the equivalent of the additional diploma in literacy or ESOL teaching, and is part of the MA in Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy. It is available to those currently teaching literacy or ESOL in the lifelong learning sector, who already have a generic teaching qualification – Cert Ed, PGCE or DTLLS. Foundation Degree in Lifelong Learning This course is available for all staff working in the lifelong learning sector who wish to progress from a level 3 qualification and leads on to a BEd or BA in Education.
