23 August 2010

Functional Skills The three-year functional skills pilot will shortly be completed. Functional skills pilot qualifications will therefore be withdrawn and new accredited qualifications will be available for teaching from 1 September 2010. Fully achieved pilot qualifications remain valid for learners in the future. Transitional arrangements have been put in place for partially achieved functional skills English qualifications, which means that pilot components can be counted towards a full qualification for the next 12 months. Awarding organisations have been accredited to deliver functional skills at the different levels from September 2010. http://www.fssupport.org/about/news/awarding-organisation-accreditation The Functional Skills Support Programme closes on 31st August 2010. From September onwards there will be no further post-16 central support for functional skills. Functional Skills support for LAs and schools from National Strategies will continue until March 2011. http://www.fssupport.org/ The website will not be updated but material will be transferred to the Excellence Gateway.
