ESOL Resources at the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology – Pilot Project Entry 3 and Level One Pre-visit, visit and post-visit resource on Everyday Life in Ancient Egypt Cultural Diversity in Ancient Egypt Islamic Art and Culture in Egypt. Tutors Notes and Background Information is also available. The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology has worked with four ESOL tutors to write resources for self-directed visits to the museum aimed at Entry 3 and Level One ESOL learners and their tutors. The museum is piloting these resources from 16 June to 3 October 2008 and is keen to work with ESOL groups and tutors to get feedback. Tutors Notes, Background Information and Everyday Life in Ancient Egypt worksheets will be available from 16 June, with Cultural Diversity and Islamic Art and Culture to follow in July. Depending on availability, we can book groups into the museum during our opening hours. Booking outside of those times is limited but we will try and facilitate groups where possible. There is access for people with disabilities - please contact the museum for information. The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology is a world class collection of over 80,000 objects from pre-historic, pharaonic, Greek, Roman, Coptic and Islamic Egypt and Sudan. What is so unique about the collection is the items used by ancient Egyptians in their daily lives across four millennia, including hairpins, kohl pots, rush sandals, toys made from the mud of the Nile, rat traps and much more - all for free. The museum is on the campus of University College London in the centre of London, very near to the British Museum.
