An invitation to pilot pre-service programmes for teachers of literacy, numeracy and ESOL Following the reform of FE teacher education in 2007, LLUK wishes to consider pre-service initial teacher training for teachers of literacy, numeracy and ESOL. The overarching research questions of the pilots are: How much pre-service initial teacher training do literacy, numeracy and ESOL teachers need to undertake before they are ready to lead learning? What might distinguish the pre-service initial teacher training of literacy, numeracy and ESOL teachers from that for teachers of other specialisms? This project will give useful indicators for LLUK in developing guidance regarding routes into the profession and initial teacher training needs for literacy, numeracy and ESOL subject specialists at the beginning of their teaching careers, and will inform capacity-building within the sector. Pilot programmes may start any time up to the end of January 2008. They will form part of teacher-education programmes that may complete at any time between 2008 and 2009. Dates for proposals and grant decisions: Teacher-education providers must submit expressions of interest to NRDC by 7th December 2007 Completed proposals must be submitted by 14th December 2007 Decisions about grants will be communicated by 21st December 2007 For full details lick 'more' to go the LLUK website.
