Combined Delivery of Literacy and ESOL teacher training. In these pilots, LLUK wishes to pose these general questions: What are the advantages of joint delivery of initial teacher training or professional development of literacy and ESOL teachers (some face to face sessions shared by both cohorts) and what benefits could this offer to trainees, awarding institutions and centres? What are the disadvantages of joint delivery of initial teacher training or professional development of literacy and ESOL teachers and what challenges would this present for trainees, awarding institutions and centres? Pilot programmes will be awarded a grant of £6000 and may start any time up to the end of January 2008. The pilots will form part of teacher-education programmes that may complete at any time between 2007 and 2009. Schedule of dates for applications and award decisions: • Teacher education providers must submit proposals to NRDC by Friday 2nd November 2007 • Decisions about the grants will be communicated by 9th November 2007 • Attendance will be required at a national briefing/launch event for pilot centres on Friday 30th November 2007, 11.00 to 15.00 Application details are available on the LLUK web site: http://www.lifelonglearninguk.org/nrp/specialistteachers/teachers_lit_num_esol.html
