'ESOL for Work' qualifications accredited by QCA

'ESOL for Work' qualifications launch events. Tue 16 October 2007 - Hammersmith & West London College, Gliddon Road, London, Tue 23 October 2007 - Jurys Inn Hotel, 245 Broad Street, Birmingham The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) are working in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and NATECLA to formally launch the new suite of ESOL for Work qualifications at two national events this October. The qualifications will be available initially at Entry 3 and Level 1 and are designed to increase flexibility and choice for employers, agencies and learners as they are shorter and more job focused and are intended to extend learner and employer choice. A maximum of 2 places are available per organisation and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Conference Helpline: 0115 947 5666 The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) has accredited 16 ESOL for Work qualifications across 8 Awarding Bodies. he qualifications focus on language skills in the workplace and have a greater emphasis on reading, speaking and listening rather than writing. Qualifications are not identical. The certification level is that achieved in reading , speaking and listening, with writing one level lower. They will be funded as listed qualifications. Assessment will be as and when learners are ready. Initially will be at Entry level 3 and Level 1 from 1st August 2007 to 31st July 2010. NATECLA has offered support in their development.
