INVITATION As part of the NRDC research project 'Planning learning: research on the use of ILPs with ESOL learners' we are looking for 8 - 12 NATECLA members to participate in a focus group and share their ideas on the use of ILPs with Entry 1 and Entry 2 ESOL learners. This session will be held at Kings College, London (immediately next to Waterloo station) on Friday 2nd December from 2.30 - 4.30 p.m. The project will be able to cover travel expenses. If you are interested, please contact Karen Dudley at Tower Hamlets College by Monday 14th November; 020 7536 5763 or Karen.Dudley@tower.ac.uk This NRDC research project is being led by Tower Hamlets College, and funded by the Skills for Life Strategy Unit. The research aims to explore the role of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in planning learning for ESOL learners at Entry levels 1 and 2 and will: describe the range of practice in planning learning for ESOL learners at Entry levels 1 and 2 in a sample of institutions nationally across accredited and non-accredited learning programmes; discover how ILPs and the process of planning learning with ESOL learners are perceived by teachers, tutors, trainers, co-ordinators, managers, national and local LSCs and the QCA; make recommendations of interest and value to policy makers, funding bodies, ESOL provider organisations, ESOL teachers, tutors, trainers, co-ordinators and managers. If you are unable to participate in the focus group, we would still greatly value your contribution. An online questionnaire is available on the NRDC website: www.nrdc.org.uk/ilpquest You can also contact Karen for paper based questionnaires for yourself and colleagues.
