Writing Conference - for experienced teachers and researchers

Back to events list
IATEFL Research and ES(O)L SIGs are organising a conference on Writing which will take place in Cambridge from 25 to 27 February 2005. This event is for experienced teachers and researchers. It aims to challenge received notions about writing, to make recent findings available to participants and to explore ways in which a greater understanding of the skill can help us reshape the methods of the writing classroom and redefine the needs of the learner. We are very pleased to have got Ron White, Chris Tribble, Ken Hyland, Tricia Hedge and Rhona Stainthorp as keynote speakers. If you are interested in attending, you can find the application form on the ES(O)L SIG website www.esol-sig.org.uk. There are only 90 places and, since we expect a lot of interest in this conference, we recommend that you book early. If you need accommodation, info will be available from IATEFL and SIG website shortly. A call for papers is also available on the ES(O)L SIG website. The deadline for submission is Monday 17th January. Presentations should contain new findings about the writing process rather than ideas on teaching methods. We welcome especially welcome contributions from teachers and postgraduate students who have undertaken classroom research into L2 writing and how it is taught. We look forward to seeing you there! Best wishes for 2005! John Field Research SIG co-ordinator Philida Schellekens ES(O)L SIG co-ordinator
