Events from Cambridge ESOL Tuesday 1 March – University of Westminster, New Cavendish Street, London Thursday 3 March – The Lowry, Salford, Greater Manchester Cambridge ESOL invites you to register, free of charge, for one of the following Information Days. Extended Teachers’ Seminar (10.00 am – 3.30 pm) Success at Entry 1 This is suitable for colleagues with variable degrees of experience, and focuses on giving teachers some practical ideas for helping learners to succeed at Entry 1 level, in each of the modes – Writing, Reading, and Speaking & Listening. In the final part of the seminar, interlocutor skills will also be reviewed, and the participants’ activities will be supplemented by classroom activities, which can be taken away and used by teachers. Open Forum (3.45 pm – 5.00 pm) What is the future for ESOL? The aim of this session is to give delegates the opportunity to find out more and share their views on likely changes to ESOL provision from September 2011 as a result of the implementation of last November’s “Skills for Sustainable Growth” strategy document. Cambridge ESOL centres are part of the largest network of providers delivering ESOL Skills for Life qualifications, and the delegates’ input from this Forum will provide important evidence for submission to BIS to demonstrate the impact which the planned eligibility and funding arrangements will have. Refreshments will be available for both the morning session and the afternoon session, and lunch will also be provided. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
