Homelessness Action Week. Actors for Human Rights

iceandfire theatre company's national outreach network Actors for Human Rights is working in conjunction with a number of charities to raise awareness about poverty and homelessness in the UK as part of national Poverty and Homelessness Action Week (Jan 31-Feb 8). They have written a new script, made up of first-hand testimonies of people experiencing homelessness and deprivation in UK society today, which will be seen in various cities during the Action Week. The launch is at at the Union Chapel on February 6, where Simon Callow will be presenting one of the testimonies - a rough sleeper in London. As well as homelessness, the eight accounts in the script also explore pensioner poverty, lack of affordable accommodation, unemployment, asylum destitution, debt and fuel poverty. Once launched, rehearsed readings of the play will be available on request through Actors for Human Rights. Tickets are £10 and all profits will go to charity.
