Why teach dialects at Pre-Entry and Entry level?

This unique and interactive workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore:
•         Reasons for teaching dialects at pre-entry and entry levels
•         What topics to teach
•         Approaches to teaching dialects.

 

Jan Benz
Jan works for Liverpool Adult Learning Service teaching unemployed refugees and asylum seekers ESOL at pre-entry and Entry 1.  He has over 20 years teaching experience and has previously been a manager and advanced lecturer in a large FE college.  Jan has a firm commitment to teaching active citizenship and dialects to aid the integration of refugees into local communities.

Graeme Edwards
Graeme has been working in FE since 2002 in a variety of roles and settings. He managed the ESOL provision in a large FE college and diversified the curriculum to adapt to changing funding priorities. Graeme has a passion for technology and its use in teaching English. He is currently back in the classroom teaching for Liverpool Adult Learning Service.
