RARPA Training (February – March 09)

Each one-day training programme is based on the RARPA approach and the staged process:

Improving Teaching and Learning for Success using the five-stage process (RARPA)

Thursday 5 February 2009, London
Wednesday 25 February 2009, Manchester
Thursday 5 March 2009, Birmingham

This highly interactive training will be particularly relevant to: tutors and teachers, teacher trainers, staff developers, curriculum managers. It will also be relevant to organisations piloting phase 2 of Framework for Excellence.

With a focus on how the staged process benefits learning in the classroom, by the end of the training participants should be better able to:

- Relate the staged process to their own teaching and learning practice
- Undertake and use initial, formative and summative assessment
- Engage in feedback with learners for different purposes and in a variety of ways, appropriate to individuals’ needs and contexts
- Help learners use assessment and feedback to take control of their own learning journey, for the use of learners, other tutors, and the organisation

This training aims to enable participants to develop an understanding of how the five-stage process of recognising and recording progress and achievement impacts on:

Quality improvement and quality assurance processes
Monitoring and reporting on the quality of teaching, self-assessment and inspection.

This training is also relevant to organisations piloting phase 2 of Framework for Excellence.
