Senior Skills for Life Tutor
• Day-to-day management of a Centre and achieve targets set down by the Manager. • Overall programme delivery inclusive of literacy, numeracy, ESOL and ICT accredited qualifications that form the full Further Education programme offer. • To organise and implement Basic Skills training in order to assist learners obtain a City & Guilds qualifications • To support learners in order to progress onto further training • Lead the team and oversee all aspects of the delivery process • Support the Business Manager with staff recrui ment, staff development and appraisals • Establish productive working relationships with staff and learners, acting as a role model and setting high expectations that support the achievement of potential. • Encourage staff to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage all learners in classroom based activities. • Consult IV Co-ordinator/Business Manager problem areas including staff ability and adherence to responsibilities. Follow instructions given by IV Co- coordinator / Business Manager. • Assist with the monitoring and evaluating performance and carry out any identified action points, as and when required. • Part time delivery of literacy and numeracy qualifications. • Carry out the initial assessment process with all potential learners, completing appropriate documentation. • Use information provided by referral source to support assessment. • Use appropriate Initial Interview to assist learners identify their existing skills, work experience, interests and job goals. • Using the Diagnostic Assessment material, assess levels of competency within literacy and numeracy. • To obtain and record detailed information regarding the learners’ skills level, short, medium and long-term aims. • Negotiate, design and implement an Individual Learning Plan with each learner. Regularly assess, monitor, review, evaluate and adjust the Individual Learning Plan when necessary, taking into account the new Basic Skills Infrastructure. • Prepare and adapt teaching materials including handouts, assignments, booklists and assessment papers, to enable all learners to progress. • Create new learning material to meet the needs of the learner. • Prepare Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment. Provide teaching and assessment opportunities in line with the relevant awarding body requirements to promote access to achievement. • Produce and deliver appropriate individual and group exercises in order to achieve the Individual Training Plan. • Provide a supportive role and motivate learners to successfully overcome the barriers to gaining employment. • Build up communications with learners. • Participate in training sessions and meetings – internal and external – when required to do so. • Oversee the presentation and general housekeeping requirements of training areas, ensure always clean, with a friendly, business like atmosphere. • Carry out administrative processes according to work instructions. • Take responsibility for the content and relevance of individual learner files. • Learner’s files should clearly identify SMART objectives. • Management information will be extracted from these files, so needs to be efficient and accurate. • Provide performance and management information as required. • Carry out and co-ordinate internal verification and quality assurance activities, strictly adhering to company’s procedures. • Ensure all relevant administration and recording procedures are complete. • Adhere to given deadlines • Undertake on-going course development with the agreement of the Curriculum Manager • Adhere to deadlines for organisational monitoring by ensuring learner programme data is kept up-to-date. • Keep up to date and current with national developments in your curriculum area....
